Recently, I watched the first Terminator movie, because I was bored, and my family owns the first and second movies on VHS. Eventually I'll watch the second one. But so far, the first movie is all the Terminator I've seen.
When I was on a vacation to Wisconsin with my parents a few months ago, my dad and I went to Dave and Buster's because we were extremely bored. And there was this lovely game there:
Terminator: Salvation.
A lovely first-person shooter with two players and freakin' machine guns.
So yeah, we played it.
We spent like 50 bucks on this game, and didn't beat it. But we had a lot of fun, because this is one addictive game.
You play as John Connor (somehow, both people are John Connor. Idk.). You fight a whole bunch of Terminators and various other machines. There's a nice variety of enemies with different weaknesses and offensive capabilities. For instance, there are machines that shoot rockets at you. You can shoot the rockets, but this comes at the expense of killing the machine itself. Having two players is really, really helpful here. At one point, I was able to fight two of them off by myself (because my dad was off putting more points on our card), but that was very very difficult.
The graphics are pretty darn nice.
There are lots of opportunities to pick up better weapons and grenades, which are very clearly marked with a glowing green outline. I loved using the grenades. Robots go boom. Hehehe.
I don't get out and play arcade games very much, and I don't have a gun controller for either of my systems, so it was nice to be able to play a shooting game with a legit gun. This thing was huge, but managed to be comfortable to use. The buttons were well-placed, and it gave a small kick to involve you more in your shooting. While playing, I discovered that I was sort of ambidextrous with the gun, and often switched it from shoulder to shoulder.
My dad and I recently went to a different Dave and Buster's, this time near my house. We finished the game, and I got the 5th highest score on the machine. Rock, rock on!
So yeah. That's how we do.
I got the following image from a search for "Terminator cat". It's from Smosh.com.
